David Cunningham
Chair
Dr. David M. Cunningham is currently the 9-12 principal at Schuyler Central High School. He previously had served as Secondary Principal of Stanton Community Schools for 12 years. He has been in education for 20 years, which spans four school districts across the state of Nebraska (Gering - 3 years, McCook - 1 year, and Schuyler - 4 years). Dr. Cunningham’s teaching experiences include higher education and K-12 in physical education and business education. He attained degrees from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Northcentral University.
David and his wife have been married for 24 years and she is a teacher in Schuyler. David loves to talk about his children and their successes in life! He has twins that will be juniors in college this fall. The twins are a girl and a boy, and their names are Sylvia and Thomas. Sylvia is attending Kansas State on a rowing scholarship and majoring in pre-med. She will also be active in the KSU concert band, playing the Oboe. Thomas attends Midland University and is studying education and is also playing football. Olivia will be in her 2 nd year at Kansas State on a rowing scholarship and majoring in Interior Design. Patrik is our youngest, and he is 13 years old. Patrik has taught my wife and I many lessons since he was born. He was born with congenital panhypopituitarism which means that his pituitary gland does not communicate with the other glands of his endocrine system. He does not grow by himself, and he does not have an immune system, which means he is adrenal insufficient. Patrik attends school every day and didn’t miss a day during COVID-19. We work diligently to keep him safe but allow him to function like a normal kid his age. He participates in all youth sports and Boy Scouts. Looking at him, someone would never know he has a life-altering condition because he is the largest kid in his class and acts and functions like any other 13-year-old.
